Middle East Cleanroom Institute Initiative

Building a Regional Centre of Excellence for Cleanroom & Contamination Control

Meeting Lead: Eng. Ahmed Helal Consultants
International Experts: Mr. Sanky Marzook & Mr. Hasim Solmaz
Format: Exclusive Industry Roundtable
Date: 2 September 2026 Time: 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Why a Middle East Cleanroom Institute?

Cleanroom technology and contamination control play a critical role across highly regulated industries including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, medical devices, food and advanced manufacturing.

The Middle East has developed significant cleanroom expertise and delivered major projects over the past decades. The next opportunity is to bring that expertise together through a stronger regional platform, one that can support professional standards, specialised training, knowledge exchange and collaboration between industry, experts, manufacturers, consultants and academia.

The Middle East Cleanroom Institute Initiative will explore the feasibility of creating a dedicated regional institute focused on cleanroom technology, contamination control, education, training and long-term industry development.

Inspired by established international models, including the German Cleanroom Institute, the proposed concept would be shaped specifically around the needs and opportunities of the Middle Eastern market.

Shaping the Concept Together

This roundtable is not intended to formally launch the institute.

Instead, the objective is to bring key stakeholders together to test, shape and validate the concept and determine what a Middle East Cleanroom Institute should look like, what role it should play and how it can create lasting value for the industry.

The discussion will explore:

  • Is there a genuine need for a dedicated regional Cleanroom Institute?
  • Where are the current gaps in education, training, standards and professional development?
  • What should the institute’s mandate and scope be?
  • How can international expertise and best practices be adapted to the Middle East?
  • What roles should industry, academia, consultants, manufacturers and professional bodies play?
  • What programmes and services should the institute provide?
  • What governance and operating model would be most appropriate?
  • How can the initiative become sustainable and create long-term value?

Leading the Discussion

Bringing the Cleanroom Ecosystem Together

The roundtable will bring together selected representatives from across the cleanroom and pharmaceutical ecosystem, including:

  • Pharmaceutical manufacturers
  • Cleanroom industry leaders
  • Technology and solution providers
  • Consultants and technical experts
  • Manufacturers and suppliers
  • Academic and professional institutions
  • Relevant industry stakeholders

The aim is to bring together the different perspectives required to shape an institute that can genuinely serve the region.

From Discussion to Action

The roundtable is designed to move beyond discussion.

The session will work towards defining the potential mission, scope, services, governance and next steps for the initiative, before concluding with the establishment of a working direction and the signing of an MOU to formalise collaboration on the development of the Middle East Cleanroom Institute.
